Long's Peak

Since this blog has turned into my diary of hiking adventures mostly, I thought I'd better go back and fill in the big one, LONGS PEAK in Colorado.
This one is special to me for two reasons; One, My dad climbed it like three or four times, secondly, I tried climbing it in 2012, but never made it to the top. So my 2013 trip was pretty awesome.... I summited.

Breakfast, and some minor first aid on some blisters.

The sun finally peeking over Mount Lady Washington.

One of the most famous landmarks of the climb.

Upon first glance of the ledges, you think it will be the scariest part, until you see the narrows later.

I really hated this section. Both going up, AND going down. It never ended, and you had to be on all fours most of the way. I was dreaming of standing up straight and walking normal halfway through this section.

My least favorite part, the Trough.

Narrows. It was windy here. Apparently wind is the biggest danger on this mountain... after exposure.

Just at the end of the Narrows and the beginning of the homestretch.

I had to jump ahead of cody and steve.... It's just in my competitive nature to try to be first. :)

The final stretch of the homestretch

Steve and Cody taking their first steps onto the summit

I think you can tell from the look on my face, just how happy I am at this moment.

looking DOWN the homestretch

looking back across the Narrows, this perspective give the viewer a better idea of how steep it was.

Looking down the Trough

This is what I call the BOWL. its the tundra area of the boulderfield before the boulders really start getting big.

Longs in the background

about to enter the goblin forest
