| On the street in the black market. |
 |
| It was difficult to take a photo that really illustrated the crazyness of this area. |
MONDAY was just an extension of
Sunday. We worked on the same project all day. It was tedious and
problematic and we worked a little late til like 7. We did take our
entire Chinese team out to eat however. We told Mark Yang to have his
team pick a restaurant... so we took them all out for Thai food. It was
really good food and really good company. The team we work with is the
best I have ever dealt with. They speak good english, and are hard
workers. They are also really good people and have a good sense of
humor. Plus its fun to take seven people out to eat and take care of the
bill... it was only like 40 bucks!
After dinner we went to the
Black Market area of putien. This was really interesting but
anti-climactic. The area is an extremely busy street with hundreds of
motorcycles and scooters whirring past you, but all the shops have
closed doors and windows blacked out. You have to knock on the door and
the shop can deny you entry or let you in... This area is almost
entirely fake Nikes and Fake Adidas.. and other SHOES.... however
apparently there was a recent crackdown by the government and so most of
the shops were closed... But i'm skeptical... because if everythign
was closed, why was it so insanely busy? I think they just saw two tall
white guys and locked all their doors in fear we were like Nike agents
or something... I think it's a red flag if they see white guys snapping pictures... so I might have messed us up when i took these photos...it was suggested not to take any more after this.
